About Hire Well

Barbara Hart founded Hire Well in 2005. Barbara is a Maine native and University of Maine grad. Her career has included television production for the Maine Public Broadcasting Network, media advertising sales and sales management, business-to-business sales, and over 6 years as a traditional placement agent and recruiter in Maine.

Hire Well is designed to specifically address the unmet hiring needs of small businesses. Traditional recruiters’ fees can be prohibitively expensive for small organizations, and placement agencies are limited in the scope of their service.  Hire Well provides an affordable alternative with a service that:

• helps each client to define and establish the parameters of the position

• reviews the resumes of every applicant

• prescreens the best candidates

• gathers references

• guides the client through the process and through the first 90 days of the successful candidate’s employment
  

Barbara is an active member of the Portland Regional Chamber, currently serving on the Regional Board and on the Membership Committee. In addition, she is an active member of the Association for Consulting
Expertise. She and her husband, Stewart, are members of Centerboard Yacht Club, and live in South Portland aboard their 47’ Cheoy Lee Cutter – where she has her home office.

Since January of 2006, Hire Well has successfully hired bookkeepers for boatyards and advertising agencies; sales professionals and customer service staff for a printing firm; an executive assistant for a not-for-profit organization; controllers for a manufacturer; consulting engineers; project mangers; and other staff for companies of 1 to 80 employees from Topsham, Maine to Syracuse, New York. During her years working as a traditional recruiter, Barbara successfully placed executives, managers, national and international sales professionals, CPA’s, and administrative personnel from Bangor to York County.
