Hire Well helps small companies hire key personnel – getting it right the first time.
Why Hire Well?
|
Hire Well specifically serves small companies and not-for-profit organizations. Hire Well serves companies and organizations that have no Human Resource Manager. The owners and managers do not have the time, expertise, or resources to accurately define the position and engage the best candidates available. Typically, these organizations hire too quickly and keep the wrong person far too long.
- Any one position that is critical to the organization can be considered Key Personnel. In some organizations a receptionist or executive assistant is absolutely a key employee. Other organizations want help finding their next bookkeeper, controller, account executive, sales manager, executive director, marketing specialist, or their first human resources manager.
- Hiring well takes time and Hire Well will take the time necessary to get it right the first time. We will never “talk you into” a candidate. If it doesn’t feel like a fit, it isn’t. We follow up over the first 90 days and offer an unconditional 90-day guarantee - if the new hire leaves for any reason, we will undertake the entire process again at no charge.

Hire Well achieves results by filling the Jar of Information.
Imagine a large jar and imagine that in order to find the best available candidate you need to fill the jar with all the information about the position and the person you seek. The more information you place in the jar, the better your chance of finding a great fit. Certainly a good place to start is with the job description, so let’s take some rocks that are about the size of walnuts and label them with the required skills and attributes such as College Degree, Excel Proficiency, Management Ability, or Proven Sales Acumen. You can certainly fill the jar, put the lid on and post an ad based only on that information. Many companies do.
Why is that a problem? That jar isn’t really full. If you take that imaginary jar of rocks, open the lid, pour pebbles in, and shake the jar so they settle -- you can add a lot of pebbles to a jar you thought was full. When you work with Hire Well, we will ask you questions about the culture in the office, the types of people who have excelled there, and the types of people who haven’t. These attributes represented by pebbles may not be as big or as important as the rocks but they are vital to getting a good fit. Now, once the jar is full of rocks and pebbles we will find that if we shake it gently to let things settle that there is still room in the jar for some sand. The sand represents the process that holds everything together. Many companies start out looking for candidates with particular skills and attributes but forget to evaluate all candidates against those ideals. That evaluation is represented by the sand and it goes in last. What happens if you put the sand in first? You don’t have enough room for skills and attributes and you hire someone you like or feel comfortable with – but who may not be the best person to do the job. Hire Well will help you fill the jar with everything you need to find the right candidate – and make sure that each candidate is evaluated against the stones and pebbles you have identified as important.
